In just a moment, the world can seem to change drastically. Coping with an unexpected pregnancy often means navigating complex thoughts, emotions, and decisions. With support, you do not have to go through it alone no matter what decisions you make moving forward. The good news is it's not uncommon to experience an unexpected pregnancy (about half of all pregnancies are not planned). The question is, what do you do next?

Our pregnancy services provide guidance, support, and reliable insight into your options, needs, and goals. Remember, you are not alone.

Get Medical Confirmation

The first step is to get medical confirmation about your pregnancy. At-home tests work, but they can be inaccurate. Willow Womens Center provides clinical-grade urine-based testing. We are able to provide you with a full pregnancy confirmation at your no-cost appointment.

Make Sure it's a Healthy Pregnancy with an Ultrasound

With the help of a limited ultrasound, you gain insight into whether or not the pregnancy is a healthy one. At Willow Womens Center, we check to ensure the pregnancy is placed in the uterus, measure the pregnancy to find out how far along you are, and check to see if the fetus is viable by detecting a fetal heartbeat. Your doctor will follow up with a more detailed ultrasound when they determine the timing is appropriate.

Embrace Your Emotions

Your emotions might be everywhere. This is normal. Emotional upheaval is expected, whether you're pregnant in college or dealing with a bad relationship. Work through all of your emotions, gaining insight into the good and bad. Give yourself time to go through this process as well. Talking with a trusted family member, friend or counselor may help you process through your emotions.

Consider Your Options

Take the time to consider all of your options.

  • Adoption: You may not be ready to be a new parent just yet, but you are not comfortable with an abortion. Adoption could be a viable option.
  • Abortion: In some situations, it may not feel like you can move forward. It’s important to fully understand all aspects of an abortion prior to scheduling your procedure. Willow Womens Center is here to help you answer all of your questions.
  • Parenting: If you are unsure you can be a parent but want to do so, Willow Womens Center will help you find support on this journey.

Talk to Friends and Family Members for Support

Only you know who you can talk to and receive honest support, guidance, and authentic caring. Choose a friend or family member to operate as your support. Discuss your needs, concerns, and goals. Having someone to talk to enables you to work through this decision with more confidence and peace of mind.

Look into Financial and Life Assistance

Think about the financial and life assistance options available to you. When you make an appointment with Willow Womens Center, we can provide you with guidance on getting the support you need so you can make better decisions moving forward.

For Men: Be Supportive and Don't Panic

Men are also facing intense decisions and life-changing factors at this moment. Your first step is not to panic. Your second is to get the services you need to make the right decisions for you. Getting advice for men enables you to navigate with clarity.
